So Wired.com blog is making fun of Adobe’s SXSW swag knit sock for your “Flash-free iPhone.” Good headline, but why didn’t they cover the “trading cards” game inside the sock? Ok, full disclaimer. I’m a huge Adobe fan since the mid 90s when I was a designer for The Miami Herald and my current employer helps Adobe with Search Engine Optimization.
But still, why didn’t Wired take the time to read the cards inside the sock? They had to take them out to put the iPhone!
Adobe is running a game that is forcing geeks like me to “talk” to other people! The sock had 3 cards with different Adobe products and you need to get 5 of the same card for a “winning hand.” You take your winning had to one of the “Adobe Clicks” sessions to win “Adobe Master Collection and other fun prizes.”
I wonder if I can create a Twitter account to find people that are looking for cards?
The Adobe game is very clever as it makes me look for people with the Adobe sock (is there a better name for this thing?), talk with them and see if we can trade cards.
Adobe is not the only one with a card game during SXSW. During his SXSW keynote, Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh announced a similar game. 15 Zappos staff members are distributing poker cards. 3 Saturday, 1 Sunday and 1 Monday. You need to trade cards with friends and if you get 5 of a kind you email Zappos and you can win a trip to Vegas!
Wired, still love you, but get the full story. Do you have the Adobe Air card? How about the Zappos Ace? Tweet me @SocialJulio
I didn’t get it, neither did my brother or anyone else I talked to. I’m disappointed I missed the opportunity, but it made no sense at the time. Glad to have finally found out what it was, though. Thanks!
