I like to take photos. I usually have a good camera with me during family vacations. Then I share the photos with friends via private Picasa folders, public Flickr account and a few photos make it to Facebook. But I’m not a good photographer! During a recent trip to Germany, I took 50+ photos of Eltz Castle, just to make sure I had a good photo.
While I do not have a “real camera” with me all of the time, I do have my iPhone during great photo opportunities. In fact, I have over 2,000 photos in my iPhone right now. I love the opportunity to take a photo and send a Twitter message with a link to the photo to share with friends.
I use the free service Pikchur.com to upload and distribute my iPhone photos. I email the photo to my Pikchur.com account. The subject line of the email becomes a Tweet from my @SocialJulio Twitter account. Then Pikchur also upload the photo to my SocialJulio Flickr account where I can search and print them later and my Julio Fernandez Facebook account where family and college friends can see them.
The only part of the process that I could improve it the quality of the photo. With the recently released Photoshop.com iPhone app, I can crop my photos and create simple photo edits like adjust the saturation, exposure, or give the photos blur effects. But I usually manage to get my photos blurry without any app!
I’m excited to have a one-click crop and then another click to enhance the color. From there, I can upload the photo to my free SocialJulio Photoshop.com account. It only takes a minute to download the Photoshop.com iPhone app. But I think it is better to create the free Photoshop.com account on your computer first. This way you can create an account with an easy to remember name, mine is socialjulio.photoshop.com, and you can create a few default folders where the photos will go. Then go to iTunes to download the free iPhone app, log in and the app will know your different folders.
Full disclosure: I have been a huge fan on Photoshop since my college days working at the student newspaper. Little did I know that 18 years later, Adobe would be a client of my employer. We work with top tech companies like IBM, Cisco, Intel and Adobe. In this blog, I write about things I find interesting. Statements, photos, videos or opinions expressed here do not necessarily represent those of my employer or our clients.
