Interesting to see how you can track the birth of a product via Twitter and Google Trends.
I saw D90 as one of the top 10 “trending topics” on Twitter. I did not know what it was and looking at Twitter I saw several people talking about all of the new features of the Nikon D90 camera.
I then looked at Google Trends and saw how there was a lift when Engadget talked about the new UPC code for the Nikon D90 camera two weeks ago.
It is clear than we can follow the birth of a product, the brand awareness lift from the proper press release or related article as well as the drop in traffic as competitors get in the game.
